The fourth trimester is a time of transformation for each member of your family.

Postpartum Doula Services

Prenatal Support, Guidance, and Planning

Throughout your pregnancy, I will be available to address any questions or needs you may have in preparing to welcome your new baby. I can create lists of newborn essentials or create a baby registry for you, I can advise on the best gear for your needs and budgets, and can guide you in nursery setup/organization. I can also help you plan for the postnatal period by setting up your network of support and setting expectations with family and friends that feel right and safe to you.

Feeding Support

Breast- and chest-feeding support in a baby’s first weeks can help create a solid nursing relationship.
No matter how you choose to feed your new child, I can help figure out the right fit for your family and can support parents in establishing feeding rhythms and meeting your baby’s needs and your body’s needs. Specifically, I can support you through breast- and chest-feeding challenges, bottle feeding, pumping, and assessing when a lactation consultant or pediatrician needs to be consulted.

Newborn Care

I will help you navigate the first few weeks of adjusting to what your baby needs and to guide you in your new role as parent(s). From assisting with or teaching how to change diapers, clip nails, bathe the baby, babywear, do infant massage, or any other support you might need as a new parent, I will be there to guide and support as you gain confidence and grow into your power as a parent.

C-Birth Healing Support

C-birth is a common experience in the United States, but the recovery period is longer and has unique challenges. As someone who has experienced a long and challenging C-birth and recovery, and as a postpartum doula with experience supporting new parents recovering from C-birth, I can provide extra hands-on support and counseling for parents recovering from C-birth including strategies for managing pain, babywearing with an incision, and division of labor in the home for extended periods of time.

Emotional and Moral Support

A new baby means transition for everyone. I can help the entire family adjust and settle in, including empowering the birth parent by providing emotional support to process the birth, involving siblings in infant care and providing parents with time together and with other children.

Potspartum mood disorders and postpartum depression are common and I am able to help you process your feelings, identify if you are experiencing symptoms that might benefit from additional therapeutic resources, and connecting you with care providers who can give you specialized care you might need.

Household Work

In order to nurture you as parents while you nurture your child, I am available to help with household chores including tidying up, nursery organization, folding laundry, meal preparation, grocery shopping, and kitchen cleanup. I can also help find you professional cleaning, pet sitting, or babysitting services if you need additional support with household work.

Emotional support in the postpartum period can include processing the birth story, listening to feelings of overwhelm, supporting non-birth parents and other children with the transition and knowing when to provide additional resources as needed.

“Having a postpartum doula made a huge difference in the early days/weeks. Elana was very reassuring throughout. Anyone would be lucky to have her support.
